May 15, 2012 06:41 AM PDT
A theodicy is a vindication or justification of God's goodness amidst and evil world. And in this passage Paul gives the Thessalonians explains why they are experiencing suffering due to persecution, that God can use temporary pain for a greater good in their lives and the lives of others. Paul does this by introducing God's judgment. In this teaching, we will explore the nature of God's judgment and what it would look like if God did not judge. If you asked the average church goer what a good church looks like, you would get different answers. Some would say it is a growing church. Other would say a financially generous church. Other would say a big church with lots of programs and buildings. But what does the Bible have to say about this? What is the biblical measure of a church? Podcast SummaryLots of people ask us what Xenos means. So, I wanted to include a brief explanation because it characterizes who we are. Xenos is the Greek word for "sojourner," "alien," or "stranger." The Bible depicts followers of Jesus as passers-by in this world. Therefore, we are eagerly await and long for the next life, promised to us by God. That is why at Xenos we are radically committed to two things: loving God and loving people. These after all, are two things that endure this life and will remain in the next. About Conrad HilarioI am Sphere Leader at Xenos Christian Fellowship in Columbus Ohio.
